Our Annual Events

What is "The Not So Big Event?"

Every fall semester, SMU Big Event partners with TangoTab for "The Not So Big Event." TangoTab has provided millions of Americans with the comfort of knowing where their next meal will come from. Together, we pack meals to assist TangoTab in its effort to feed and empower underserved communities. Each year, we pack THOUSANDS of meals for the community. Bring your friends, listen to music, and get excited to make a BIG difference.

What is "SMU SERVES?"

Every year The Big Event Partners with “Feed My Starving Children" (FMSC), a non-profit organization that focuses on providing nutritionally complete meals specifically formulated for malnourished children worldwide. FMSC organizes volunteer-driven meal-packing events where individuals and groups come together to assemble specially formulated meals. These meals typically consist of rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables, and a blend of essential vitamins and minerals. Last year, the SMU community packed 100,000 meals, feeding 258 children. This year, help us beat our record on January 26th-27th!

The Big Event is the largest day of collegiate-led community service in the country, started at Texas A&M University in 1982. We brought it to SMU in 2018, where it is slowly becoming a beloved campus tradition.
